Privacy Rights

Canada has two federal privacy laws that are enforced by the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, the Privacy Act and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Find out how these laws are intended to protect your personal information.

Human Rights

Everyone in the world is entitled to the same fundamental human rights. These rights include the right to live free from torture, the right to live free from slavery, the right to own property, the right to equality and dignity, and the right to live free from all forms of discrimination.

Civil Liberties

The Canadian Civil Liberties Association CCLA fights for the civil liberties, human rights, and democratic freedoms of all people across Canada believing that every person in Canada should be entitled to basic rights, freedoms, dignity and respect.

Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms

The Charter guarantees certain political rights to Canadian citizens and civil rights of everyone in Canada from the policies and actions of all areas and levels of the government. It is designed to unify Canadians around a set of principles that embody those rights.
